Get Him to the Greek

Yesterday I saw Get Him to the Greek at Town Center Value Cinemas in Snellville Georgia. I only paid $1.99 for my ticket and saw the movie at 10:00 P.M.

My Rating: I loved this movie. It was a pointless comedy with no real moral or meaning. It was entertaining, fun, and enjoyable to watch. If you ask me this is the purpose of a movie. It was silly and had me laughing from beginning to end. I would lump this movie into the same category as movies like The Hangover, Pineapple Express, and Superbad. The age group is high school and college students to young adults. I would recommend this movie to my friends if they were seeking a funny, not serious, enjoyable comedy. Overall I would rate this movie 4 out of 5 stars.

Plot Summary: This movie centers on a man who works for a record company. He is given what seems like an easy task that quickly turns near impossible to complete. His task is to go and get a rock star that is signed with the record company and “Get him to the Greek” to play a show. The said rocker is a drug addicted crazy lunatic that to say the least needs to be babysat or kept on a leash…literally. The movie is the adventure that the two have together while trying to get him “to the Greek.”

Toy Story 3

Today I went to see Toy Story 3 at AMC Colonial 18 in Lawrenceville Georgia. I paid $10 for a ticket (-$1 for being a student…whoa), and saw the movie at 7:20 P.M.

My Review: I loved the first two Toy Story movies and watched them many times as a child. I have very fond memories of the series from my childhood. This movie was a bit too serious to me. It had more negative themes and sad tones. I wish that they would have made it happier and more positive, after all it is a children’s movie. I felt that the makers of this movie tried to please their “old” Toy Story audience instead of the children that were begging their parents to see it. Looking at the movie as an adult, it was good. It had a strong storyline and was entertaining until the end. It had happy, sad, dramatic, and serious moments. It was very dynamic and entertaining for adults. Out of 5 stars, I would probably give it 3.5 stars

Plot Summary: The movie was centered on the fate of Andy’s old toys when he went off to college. The main goal was to go to college with Andy, but only Woody made it into the “college” box. Of course Woody cannot leave his friends so he ventures out to get his lost friends that accidentally got confused for trash by Andy’s mother. The toys all escape the trash and end up being donated to a daycare where they are mistreated by toddlers that are not old enough to properly care for toys.

The Daycare is an anarchic system run by toys that were lost and forgotten and ended up at the daycare long before Andy’s toys arrived. I won’t give away the ending, but in the end, Andy’s old toys find a new home.

Inception

Last night a I went and saw Inception at the Mall of Georgia Regal Cinemas in Buford Georgia. I paid $11 for a ticket and went at 7:40 P.M.

My Review: I personally thought the movie was awesome. It started out slow, but when it got to the point, the storyline was carried out flawlessly. It is a psychological thriller that had me on the edge of my seat until the end. It is interesting and I found myself extremely enthralled and unaware of the world around me. I was so into the movie that I forgot that I was in a movie theater! My friends thought the movie was a great thriller as well. Overall I give it a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. I would recommend this to moviegoers that enjoy suspense, drama, and a little bit of imagination.

Plot Summary: This movie is about business. The exploitation of people’s lives for the sake of business and others personal gain. In this movie, technology is used to enter into people’s dreams. The access to one’s dreams creates problems and vulnerability. Through this invasion, the main character Dom Cobb is able to withdraw valuable secrets within people’s subconscious. This does not make him a friend to many. He is on the run and the plot is centered on turning his skill into his redemption.

Introduction

I am using this blog assignment as an excuse to go to the movies and not feel guilty spending $11 on a ticket. The economy has recently kept me from seeing new movies. I used to be a film major at GSU and I have a deep appreciation for film and the intricate are of film making.

In the next 3 days I will be viewing 3 Movies; Toy Story 2, Inception, and Get Him to the Greek. I have a wide range of interest when it comes to cinema. I appreciate all genres and different art forms used in movie making.

In my blog I will give a brief summary and analysis of the movie and provide my personal opinion about the film. I hope you find my words enjoyable and helpful when you take your next venture to the movies this summer!

:) Peace Love and Sammy
